Listen "Ep. 132 - The Key to Career Growth: How to Speak Up and Be Taken Seriously"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textStarting the new year, you may feel the pull to assert yourself more confidently in work or life. Whether you're navigating tough workplace dynamics or simply want to show up stronger, there are steps you can take to reclaim your power and make 2025 your year. Here's how:Master Your Voice: Your tone and inflection impact how others perceive you. Ending statements with upward inflections (making them sound like questions) can undermine your authority. Practice using downward inflections to convey confidence and authority in your statements. Record yourself and listen for patterns to improve.Command Attention Strategically: Space, phrasing, and tone are key to assertive communication. Pause intentionally to let your words resonate and strategically use humor or lightness to keep discussions balanced. Start with a lighter tone to allow room for escalation if necessary.Own Your Experience: Speaking from personal experience (e.g., “I felt…” or “I noticed…”) makes your perspective harder to dispute. It’s a powerful way to command respect, particularly when addressing pushback or challenging conversations.Start small, practice consistently, and watch as your confidence grows. Assertiveness is a skill—one you can master with practice and intention. Let’s make 2025 your most empowered year yet!Loved this episode?
