Jenn speaks to Icy Liu, founder of Ungrafted Podcast and Asian Wine Professionals. Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Icy went off to study at Columbia University in NYC, spent time on wall street, then moved out to France to pursue a career as a wine professional. We talk about misconceptions we may have of others, being more open-minded, body image issues and battling eating disorder in her 20s, breast cancer in her 30s, career changes, and why it is important to be kind to yourself and others by choosing the words you use and giving yourself positive affirmation to create a healthy mindset for yourself to thrive in life. (Recorded on July 19, 2021)About Icy:Icy was born and raised in Taipei and moved to NYC for her BS at Columbia University and MS from New York University.  She worked in finance before switching to the wine business where she worked in wine retail (Crush Wine and Spirits, Eastside Cellars), wine distribution (Bonhomie Wine Imports), and wine auctions (Acker Merrall).  She was the Valedictorian of the International Culinary Institute's Intensive Sommelier Training Program and is a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She has her WSET Level 3 with Distinction. She also has a Wine MBA with Distinction from the Burgundy School of Business and an Oenology Diploma from the University of Burgundy.  She has worked in the vines at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux in Vosne Romanée and Domaine Chanterêves in Savigny-lès-Beaune.  She is the founder of Ungrafted, a podcast about wine, humanity, and the planet as well as Asian Wine Professionals, whose directory and articles are additional resources for diversity and inclusion in the wine trade. She is currently working at Becky Wasserman & Co. in Beaune, France.
