Listen "WOOSOX"
Episode Synopsis
The baseball expert Peter Logue fills in with co-host Thomas Andrew "The Skull" Hartmann to talk about the Worcester Red Sox. Pete and I were great friends growing up. My grandparents lived by his, we would ride bikes terrorizing the town. While Andrew and I were in preschool together, raising hell during the day, Pete and I took charge after.
Pete was a utility guy and could play anywhere. He ended up at Le Moyne College where he became close friends with New Hartford Native Andy Weimer. Pete knows how challenging it is to play in early spring weather. He said the WooSox had a tough stretch of games because of the cold, along with the wind plays a huge factor in hitting, as well as pitching,
Skull talks about top prospect Romy Gonzalez being moved up to Boston after only a few games. Overall, Worcester has not been able to get the bats going and have been averaging 4 runs per game over their last 7.
Pete feels it will be difficult for every AAA team because there is constant movement with players. Andrew mentions whether its A to AA or AAA to the major league club, it all affects chemistry in the clubhouse.
The Red Sox losing 140-million-dollar man Trevor Story was a huge blow and Pete says this will be a totally different Red Sox team than we have seen, being a lifelong fan, he is hopeful players will fill that void. For the Worcester Rex Sox, Andrew explains that it is very early in the season. Pete mentions how they have played in difficult weather and being on the road most of the last 2 weeks. Worcester has a passionate fan base who will not quit on the Sox and cheer them on to turn things around. Plenty of time still! Make sure to give it a listen!
