In this episode I traveled to Beltsville, Maryland to visit Shmidt Spirits and talk with master distiller, Brian Roan. The small distillery is owned and operated by Arthur Shmidt – an engineer from the College Park, Maryland area who’s desire to make better spirits than what’s on the market emboldened his blending of engineering and his love of fine liquor. Shmidt Spirits’ small operation and desire to truly experiment and test the waters on new things is the definition of why I seek out small businesses to talk to.
