Inspired by my father's acts of courage in his biography, Against All Odds, I invite guests to talk about their experience with courage. Hear their stories of courage and moments in their personal and professional life that brought out the best in them. Listen to your heroes and hear about their own heroes.
In Episode 3, my guest is Romil Barthwal, an Indian Army veteran and now running a startup in adventure sports, Boots And Cramptons
Romil joined the army in 1994 as a cadet in the prestigious National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla. He retired as a Special Forces officer after a glorious career in the Army. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur & Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He has led 10 major mountaineering expeditions as team leader with great success including the mighty Mt Everest in May 2019. He is a Boston Marathoner, Half Ironman Podium finisher, La Ultra 111 km non Ladakhi record holder, 24-hour 185km runner, Ultra cyclist Super Randonneur. He has done white-water rafting and all the mountaineering courses from the best institutes in India. He is a motivational speaker and strategic leader. Some of the mountains Romil has climbed include:– Everest (8,848m)– Kun (7,077m)– Kang Yatse 2 (6,250m)– Island Peak (6,160m)– Stok Kangri (6,153m)– Lobuche (6,119m)– Kilimanjaro (5,895m)– Elbrus (5,642m)– Kosciuszko (2,228m)
