Listen "Interview with Thomas McKnight (visual artist)"
Episode Synopsis
Thomas McKnight is recognized as one of the great visual artists of our time. His work is represented in the galleries of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and many other prestigious public and private collections. He is described as "an artist somewhat out of sync with his times." He came of age artistically during the 1970's when minimalism and conceptual experimentation was in vogue. By contrast, his work is full of color and image inspired by mythic themes with universal resonance. His new book, Arcadia (Vendome, 2006), celebrates an interior world where nymphs guard ancient springs, oracles speak, and angels fly.
