On this week’s In The Know, host Andy Taylor welcomes Peggy McGee, Board Member and Fundraising Chair for Valley Assistance Services (VAS). Peggy shares the organization’s urgent need for volunteers, especially drivers who help community members get to medical appointments, grocery stores, and the food bank. VAS is also looking for receptionists and administrative helpers to keep services running smoothly.Peggy highlights the upcoming “Guac and Give” fundraiser, happening Friday, September 12th from 2–5 PM at the Tubac Golf Resort. With 13 participating restaurants offering their best guacamole and salsa, attendees can sample, vote, and enjoy live music by Dan Ritter. The event will also feature raffle drawings, a 50/50 cash raffle, a silent auction with prizes including golf packages and an overnight resort stay, and plenty of community fun—all to support VAS programs that provide rent, utility, and essential living assistance.Peggy also previews other events on the horizon, including a January Hoedown at the Longhorn Grill, the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser in February, and spring and summer fashion shows.
