Listen "Color Speak, Episode 14, Writing Your Story, with Debra Irene"
Episode Synopsis
Light is where you’ll find truth; truth is where you’ll find color…Color is where you’ll find God.Color is his promise to us, a symbol of his love for us!We thrive in this color! God is constantly, overwhelmingly, showing us he is in love with us!In color! The assurance of this colorful love empowers us to do what we were created to do. It illuminates our sacred purpose. We need to be reminded we were created for such a time as this. In this moment. In this place. Our timing is now.Let me tell you my friend, your purpose includes a little story telling. Don’t believe me? Listen. We all have a story to tell. We all have experiences uniquely ours so that we may share them!It is said over 80% of all Americans have a book in them. If you’ve heard this, you may also have heard it said that while most adults have a book in them, in them is often where it should stay!Okay, so arguably, not everyone aspires to write or even has the slightest idea where to start. However, books aren’t the only forms of communication we’re talking about here. Writing a book is just one way to get those stories out.Your life is every bit as exciting as the next person’s, especially when you consider what God is doing in it and with it to bring everything together in harmonious union with his plans for restoration in a broken world.A word of clarity, however, before we go any further. Don't mistake a life on fire lived to purpose for one operating independently of God. Though each life is precious, value is what is found in giving God the glory, stepping into his color.Stories are to celebrate God and his love for us. Not to celebrate self and the love of it. They're meant to color the world!Your God-given purpose is to love and support others on this journey called life. Sharing stories from your own unique perspective as gained through your own unique set of experiences is holy work! Again, your purpose involves communication.Oh dear, how does that work for introverts, you ask?Well, take a moment here. My next guest is an introvert who has written three books. But writing isn’t her day job. It’s just something she dreams will one day be. Her latest will resonate with many of you. It’s entitled “Someday I will write”.If you have even a twinkling of a hint that God may be nudging you to share your triumphs with others through writing about them, stick around. God shows up in big ways when you respond to these nudgings.J.M. Huxley (Janet Huxley) is an award-winning author and broadcast news anchor.
