Cowin makes it possible to implement a pandemic management system without establishing a national database that enables government or private surveillance.

Cowin is an app that can be downloaded voluntarily and facilitates the contact tracing process. With user consent, it exchanges Bluetooth signals with nearby phones running the same app.
This allows you to be informed if you were in prolonged physical proximity with an infected person.

The only identity data we store is:
Your mobile number
A random anonymised User ID e.g. 9I8VPeQeWDofj39c8dPySoUXLqh2
When you sign up, a random User ID is generated, along with a unique QR code and associated with your mobile number. Both the mobile number and User ID are stored in a secure server, and never shown to the public.
