Listen "Your Purpose is Wrapped in the Pain, with Jerome Michaels"
Episode Synopsis
On today’s episode I speak to Jerome Michaels about his passion for serving and how his pain gave rise to this purpose. Jerome an entrepreneur, is too familiar with the world of gangsterism and crime on the cape flats. At the age of 10 his family dynamics changed when his parents went through a divorce and this led him down the path of seeking love and approval in the wrong places. At the age of 13 he was recruited into a gang and started engaging in criminal behaviour. Robbing people of their hard-earned money, using drugs, and sleeping on the streets became his new way of life. But Jerome knew that there had to be more to life. Broken, homeless and at his lowest, Jerome discovered a renewed love for life when he accepted Jesus as his saviour.
He realised that his delinquent behaviours were simply a symptom and an expression of a deeper problem. Today Jerome uses his life as an example of what you can achieve and become when you move away from focusing on your selfish desires and move towards the purpose that life has been preparing you for.
During this episode we speak about how your purpose is wrapped up in the pain of your past, and that it is your duty to find the silver lining from those difficult times. Jerome also tells us about the community outreach programs that he runs and how he is raising funds to rebuild the homes of fire victims. We also speak about what is lacking in many of the communities on the Cape Flats and why the culture of envy and breaking down others are so rife.
Stay tuned, this is an episode not to be missed.
