Something that biblical scholars and theologians have discussed for centuries is the imago dei or the "image of God." Not only do we want to know what God looks like, but we also wonder about this because we want to adopt that same image. We want to look like God. John shares with us in his letter that we are already well on our way to doing just that not just because of what we do, but also because of who we are: God's children. As God's children, living into our DNA and likeness of God starts with something so simple and yet so rich: love.
