Listen "EP 61| What It’s Like Being One of the Few Black Pilots in the World"

Episode Synopsis

Only 2 or 3 percent of airline pilots are Black, and that percentage is even lower in the military. At times, Mike says being the only Black pilot can be uncomfortable and he's heard that a lot.” There are a lot of mental barriers that you have to overcome when you are the only African-American at an entire airport.
Recently, we chop't up with Mike Turnbull, a Black Private Pilot/Aircraft Owner who currently presides as the Treasury to both the Claude B Govan Tri-State Chapter Tuskegee Airmen Inc. and the N.Y. Metro Black Pilots of America.
In this role, Mike promotes the Aviation industry as a career path to underprivileged youth who may have never considered being a Pilot as a realistic option. He spends countless hours seeking out sponsors and grant applications to help support the organization’s mission, ‘to help our children soar.”
