Hiring is a fact of doing business. We cannot do and be great at all aspects of business. And we shouldn’t be. I have hired A LOT throughout my six years in business, and it hasn’t always been a walk in the park. Listen in to hear about my experiences and learn the hiring pitfalls to avoid.I’m curious, when you made your first hire, were you so overwhelmed in your business that you just wanted to hire someone to offload some of the work? How did that work out for you? This is one of the most common mistakes I see people make. Hiring is not going to instantly make your life easier. In fact, for a period of time, that new hire is going to make your life a lot harder. Because you have to teach them what you expect in the role and how you do things in your business. This is made easier if you have a fully fleshed out role in mind before you start the hiring process. Before you ever even think of putting up a job listing, take the time to sit down and write out what exactly you are looking to outsource. Line up the most important things that you need to get off your plate, create the role, and THEN post that job listing. This one thing will make your life so much easier when it comes to hiring, but it’s certainly not the only thing.
