Sunday, May 29, 2022 - The title of today’s message is “Get Behind Me, Satan”. This is one of those potentially confusing things Jesus says that we need to understand because most of the time it’s the difficult things that Jesus says that have the most meaning in our life. After we read the context of this passage it becomes clear why Jesus takes this direct approach to deal with temptation. Get behind me, Satan! This is what we can take away from this. Jesus, being fully human had to deal with temptation just as we do. We find that Peter was unknowingly speaking the same words that Satan had previously spoken to Jesus in that the temptation was given to take a “short-cut”, the "easy way" out of the plans that God has for Jesus’s life, and likewise in our lives. How many times have we prayed for God to “Bless our plans, rather than pray for God’s plans?” There’s a lot we can learn from this simple yet powerful command, “Get behind me, Satan”. Please take a few minutes to worship and learn with us and then pray for God’s WILL in our lives, not our own selfish agenda to be done...
