Episode Synopsis
About CAP Selects
Season 5 of CAP Selects is a weekly series showcasing the exceptional work of our Creative Audio Production & Sound Engineering students. During the second-year of study, students are tasked with writing a five-track album from scratch that realises a creative vision. An opportunity to explore any idea they choose – the only limitations to this brief is that one of the tracks must be collaborative and another must be covers or reinterpretations of original work.
This week is Dripping Sun's Release. Here’s what they said about their project:
My album Release is inspired by the sounds of 80s new wave and 60s psychedelic music. It blends vintage elements with modern production, creating a unique mix of old and new. The process of making this album was a journey in itself. I spent time exploring the music of the late 70s and 80s, diving deep into the new wave movement. As I discovered artists and tracks I’d never heard before, I found myself drawn to the spirit of that era. Their use of synths, basslines and atmosphere sparked my creativity and shaped the sound of Release.
