This is Jesus’ farewell discourse to his disciples. He explains that there will come a new unity and new communion. Jesus addresses the disciples’ confusion with the promise of a new dwelling place and his presence that will abide there. As followers of Jesus grow in love and obedience to his teaching, we have great opportunity to be an influence. This is a work of the Holy Spirit. Finally, Jesus gives the promise of peace as he speaks of future events.
