Listen "The Underrated"
Episode Synopsis
In the inaugural episode of By Far The Dopest Version, Joe dives into the life and legacy of a true New York icon: Ricky Powell, the 'Fourth Beastie Boy,' a street photographer who captured the essence of a generation. In the same vein, he pays tribute to another overlooked pioneer, Weegee, whose street photography of mid-20th century New York set the standard for authentic and unvarnished urban narratives. In the words of James Baldwin, 'Artists are here to disturb the peace.' Both Powell and Weegee achieved this by portraying life in its true form.
