Listen "Engaging and Retaining Your Workforce with Scott Anderson | BWI #38"
Episode Synopsis
Episode 38 - Engaging and Retaining Your Workforce with Scott Anderson Recruiting and good quality employees seems to be one of the biggest issues that is plaguing entrepreneurs currently. So once you find one, you damn sure want to do your best to retain them. But how do you do that? Engagement is how. Scott Anderson’s entry into business started when he was tasked with turning around a 3rd generation family group of construction equipment and industrial engine companies, which he was able to scale and sell at a premium. Following this, Scott built 3 for-profit businesses, including an agency that he ran for over 25 years and later sold to his employees. Scott also combined his business acumen with his experience as a licensed mental health therapist to establish the not-for-profit, AtEaseUSA.org, which develops and deploys leading-edge PTSD treatment technology in partnership with Tel Aviv University and the Israeli government. Key Moments: Why the biggest advantage a business can have at the moment is to engage and thus retain a quality workforce Why it’s just not true that your workforce needs to all work in a central office to be engaged Why having managers who provide constructive feedback leads to the most engaged employees How COVID taught us that we can try new things and might get better results and more productivity Why you can become blinded about how your team is doing by becoming so focused on what you want and where you are trying to go How trying to do everything alone ultimately leads to burnout Why you need someone in your corner who will give you raw feedback Favorite Quote: “I think the biggest competitive advantage as entrepreneurs that we can have is to engage the people that we are lucky enough to have work for us.” -Scott Anderson CONNECT WITH SCOTT: Scott Anderson is a serial entrepreneur (launched 10 businesses, sold 8), an experienced CEO coach, and a licensed mental health therapist who specializes in recovery and prevention of workplace burnout.
