Episode Synopsis

Episode 43 - Coming Out From Under a Cult with Renee Linnell Sometimes we make mistakes and become misled and end up in a place we never wanted to be in. What we do next is what matters. History shows that we can move on from big, traumatic, life-changing events. We can get through it, but of course, like anything else, we must do the work. Renee Linnell is an author who writes edgy page-turning books about herself, to help you discover yourself including the titles “The Burn Zone: A Memoir” and most recently “Still on Fire: A Memoir.” By taking you on wild adventures through her own crazy life, she entertains, uplifts, and inspires you to live your life more fully--sharing with you the soul-soothing wisdom she has learned along the way.   Key Moments: What started Renee on a journey at age 15 trying to figure out why we are here How Renee ended up embroiled in a Tantric Buddhist cult  The similarities between how cults and abusive relationships operate  How gaslighting can cause you to question your gut and your instincts How believing in a divine plan helped Renee get through her “all is lost” moment How owning your traumas can help me you more whole and more full and powerful Why you need to learn to see the magic that surrounds you everywhere in this world How it can be helpful to make a drastic change and almost think of it like you are starting your life over Favorite Quote: “Our soul craves the fullest, richest experience possible which is the dark with the light.” -Renee Linnell   CONNECT WITH RENEE: Renee Linnell is an international speaker and author of three books. She has been featured on The Today Show, BBC, NBC, NPR and countless others. She is a serial entrepreneur who has founded or cofounded six companies and has an MBA from New York University; before that she was a surf model and professional tango dancer. Having an unorthodox childhood and being surrounded by death at a young age led her on a spiritual quest that took her all over the world, culminating in her ordination as a Buddhist monk (by a bi-polar guru with delusions of grandeur so she’s not 100% sure the ordination counts.)  What began as writing for catharsis in 2013—as she struggled to regain her sanity after being brainwashed in a Buddhist cult—turned into her first memoir, The Burn Zone: A Memoir (She Writes Press, 2018). Still on Fire (the sequel) happily and hilariously details her leap into a life she loves and celebrates the magic, miracles, and romance we may all experience once we slow down and pay attention. Both memoirs explore deep themes of self-betrayal, toxic relationships, self-love, forgiveness, why we chose bad love or lives of mediocrity, and how to shift from soul-sick to superhero. Her mission is to remind people Who They Truly Are and to reignite their passion for being alive. My parents moving me and my nine siblings from California to Australia might have had something to do with this. I believe anything is possible and that people have the genius within them to find and live in their Genius Zone... their Ultimate Potential without burnout and without burning those who surround them.  For more information on her coaching programs for coaches: www.jeanneomlor.com/reviews/ For Elite coaching for CEOs, celebrities, and Icons: https://jeanneomlor.com/private-label-advisory/ Follow Jeanne on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jeanneomlor/
