They asked Jesus to increase their faith. In a world filled with difficulties, it would have been understandable had they simply requested Jesus sustain their faith. But they didn’t, they prayed for more faith. Jesus taught that faith is like a grain of mustard seed. Some have misunderstood this to mean that our faith has to remain small. However, Jesus further expounded on this concept when He taught that once a mustard seed is planted, it will grow into a great tree. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:3, that God has given each of us a measure of faith.
