Listen "#22 Build with Vivek Atluri - Life in Ukraine, Building Calculated Confidence, Journey From IBM to the Foreign Service"
Episode Synopsis
Vivek Atluri is a Foreign Service Officer for the USAID, currently stationed in Cairo, Egypt. USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential. This is done through protecting human rights, furthering education, strengthening democracy and advancing food security and agriculture. Prior to this, Vivek joined the Peace Corp and spent 2.5 years in Ukraine as a Community Based Developer where he worked with local organizations to increase their resilience and improve their community. Prior to his time in Ukraine, Vivek was a project management leader at IBM - which is where he and I met. Vivek graduated from Ohio State University and subsequently received his MBA from Tulane University. Vivek is what I would consider “Worldly” as he grew up in India, has lived in 11 US cities, Ukraine, Egypt and speaks 7 languages. In this episode, we chat about life in Ukraine, what it was like to leave a high paying job for the Peace Corp and how to have calculated confidence to pursue your goals. Enjoy!
