Listen "Ex-Visa PM, Vrinda Gupta, rejected by card she helped launch, raises $5.7M to build Sequin Card"
Episode Synopsis
While working as a PM for Visa, Vrinda Gupta was rejected by the credit card she helped launch.
That's when she discovered 70% of women's spend is on noncredit building products, like debit cards and credit cards in other people's names.
In 2019, Vrinda launched Sequin Financial, Inc. (YC S21) , the first debit card by and for women. It's first card teaching women about the financial system and providing exclusive discounts to women led brands.
The startup has closed $5.7 million in funding from top investors including Y Combinator, Matrix Partners, Scribble Ventures, IDEO, Thomvest, and Commerce VC.
In this episode, I chatted with Vrinda about:
👼 Receiving her first angel check while interning at IDEO
👭 Maintaining a cap table with 92% women investors
🚀 Going viral on medium and acquiring 10K+ signups at launch
+ so much more
