He started playing music at a young age and eventually became Loretta Lynn's piano player and band leader.  He also worked with many other legends.  As a songwriter, his songs have been recorded by many including Mel Tillis and Lorretta Lynn.  They include the number 1 hit "I Believe In You"  which he co-wrote with Buddy Cannon. Gene played with many legendary musicians and had the opportunity to perform on shows like The Tonight Show. He retired from the road in 2007 but continues to play music and write songs.
