But “Dead Outlaw” marks the actor’s first Tony Award nomination.Brown originated the role of the Bandleader/Walter Jarrett in the Off-Broadway production of the musical and now reprises his performance. Listening to Brown speak, he has a voice that makes you want to lean in — quite useful when playing the narrator of “Dead Outlaw.” But Brown said he also feeds off of the energy in the house.
