By renting out the extra room, he was able to live in the luxury condo for only $150 per month! Since then, all of Spencer’s real estate investments have exclusively been house hacks. Our host Brain Davila doesn't believe in house hacking and thinks that flipping or wholesaling are much better ways to invest in real estate. Spencer defends his perspective that house hacking is the best way to invest in real estate with the argument that house hacking requires very little capital and the experience gained can be applied to future investments. Brian Davila and Spencer Cornelia discuss their early experiences in real estate investing and recap their first house flips. Brian suggests that beginning investors should flip houses slowly and one at a time. Spencer agrees as he lost about $90,000 in his second flip because he went into the deal less educated than he should’ve been.
