Freedom is one of our three Core Values at Breathe New Life. The only way we can be truly free is to receive freedom in Christ; however, many of us try to earn our permanent place in the family of God with good deeds and our own merit. No matter how many good merits we achieve, we'll never be able to outweigh the guilt of our own sin. Like in Job 33, we needed someone to stand in the gap and save us from death. That person was Jesus, whose one act of obedience enabled us to be made righteous, perfect and holy (Hebrews 10:14), giving us a permanent place in the family of God, and now no other sacrifice is necessary (Hebrews 10:17-18). Jesus stood up for the woman caught in adultery in front of her accusers (John 8), he gave her a new life and told her to sin no more. We should do the same! If we continue to sin, we'll be enslaved again; however, we have the Holy Spirit, who is our advocate, to help us!
