In 1967 in a secluded house near a cemetery in a small unassuming Pennsylvania town just north of Pittsburgh dark magic, of a sort, was taking place, a ritual where chocolate syrup turned to blood, roasted ham to human flesh, and a little makeup and mortician’s wax was all it took to make the dead walk the earth, and George Romero – a segment director for a little local production called Mister Roger’s Neighborhood turned cinematic necromancer – and Duane Jones – a 31 year old black teacher and to that point largely unknown actor from New York – became horror legends who changed the face of the genre and of pop culture forever.
