Listen "Cursing the Fig Tree"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textThis message considers Jesus' saying: "Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:23-24. We must consider the contexts in which Jesus states it. Jesus gives this saying on two separate occasions- the healing of the demonized boy who was rendered mute and deaf, and this occasion of his curing the fig tree. What is the big deal about the fig tree that Jesus cursed It?We consider Jesus' saying in the broader context of Mark's gospel narrative and Jesus' visits to the temple the week before he is crucified. To understand Bible verses we must interpret them in context. Bible Insights with Wayne ConradContact: 8441 Hunnicut Rd Dallas, Texas 75228email: Att.
