Psalm 90:13-17 13 Do return, O Lord; how long will it be?And be sorry for Your servants.14 O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.15 Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us,And the years we have seen evil.16 Let Your work appear to Your servantsAnd Your majesty to their children.17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;And confirm for us the work of our hands;Yes, confirm the work of our hands.**1. Prayer for the Lord’s return (v. 13)**• Ps 51:3-4 – 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me.4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight,So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge.• Ps 32:3-5 – 3 When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted awayThrough my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. 5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin.• Num 23:19a – 19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; *2. Prayer for God to remember His covenant (vv .14-15)*• Matt 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. For they shall be satisfied.”• Ps 37:4-6 – 4 Delight yourself in the Lord;And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord,Trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the lightAnd your judgment as the noonday.• Ps 63:1-4 – O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. 3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. 4 So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.• Ps 42:1-2 – As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?• Mal 3:6-7 – 6 “For I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed. 7 “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.• Lam 3:22 (NIV) – 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.• Jer 9:24 – 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.• Ex 34:6-7 – 6 Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; 7 who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin;*3. Prayer for God’s work to be seen in man’s work (vv. 16,17)*• Hab 3:2 – Lord, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.• 1 Cor 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
