As we conclude our sermon series about taking back our families, we turn our attention to Jesus' call in Matthew 5: "You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world". This is a command for every believer to not hide their faith or blend in, but to engage and influence the culture for Jesus. To be salt means having a genuine faith, radically changed by Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that impacts everything it touches, bringing life, making things better, and healing. This ability comes from the Holy Spirit living inside believers, who is greater than the world's darkness. Engaging culture does not mean accepting culture or becoming consumed by it; like Jesus, we can be in dark places without compromising truth. The world desperately needs the hope and life believers carry.
