Listen "Episode 138"
Episode Synopsis
This week’s declaration speaks of the firm confidence that is ours as we hold on to God and his promises. Aren’t you thankful that we don’t simply hope for the best. We hope in God! This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
About a month ago I did an episode that included Hebrews 4:16, which says, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (NIV).
Hebrews 6:19 gives a nod to the concept of approaching God’s throne with confidence. Our hope leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Please don’t miss the significance of being able to approach God, let alone with full assurance that he will receive us, welcome us, and extend to us both grace and mercy to help us. God wants us to come to him. He invites us to come to him. Hebrews 6:18 says, “…we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us” (NLT).
For the past four months, God has been shaking the foundations of my life. I wish I could tell you that I weathered the shaking well, but I have been a wreck. I’ve cried many tears and have questioned God’s ways. But through it all I have held firmly to his promises to me. I know God is worthy of my trust because he is absolutely trustworthy. He isn’t flakey and he doesn’t waffle. You and I can be perfectly sure that God will never change his mind (Hebrews 6:17). God has given both his promise and his oath, and it is impossible for God to lie.
No matter what God shakes loose, he will never shake himself loose and his promises will never fail. So, hold onto the hope that lies before you, my friend.
