In 1980, Rich finished with 161 tackles, a pass interception, fumble recoveries, and nine tackles for loss. Rich held the record for most tackles in a single game. Rich left WSU as the career tackle leader with 450. Rich played for three seasons with the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League. He was one of the USFL league leaders in 1983, topping the Express with 121 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a pair of interceptions.
