Listen "Cues to Action"
Episode Synopsis
We discuss how individuals react to and incorporate health education materials into their lives through Cues to Action. The first study examined the reactions of Danish men to written health education materials concerning coronary heart disease, and the second text further investigated the interplay between knowledge and behaviour change, particularly focusing on the "backpack function" of knowledge, wherein individuals build upon existing knowledge with new experiences and information. The final text examines the impact of behavioral recommendations within health research news and investigates their effects on self-relevancy and self-efficacy, exploring how these factors contribute to individuals' intentions to engage in recommended health behaviours.
