When Cerulean finally gets her greatest wish -- to have a pet -- her father takes her to McSorely's Pet Store. It is a strange, dusty place where she hears that her father used to have a strange, magical pet herself. McSorely gives her a choice, take home a mysterious egg and see what hatches, or pick any one of the normal pets the store has to offer.
