Listen "EP11 Defence Narratives"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode we talk about defence narratives, how we justify things to ourselves so that we may go on doing certain things or living with certain choices. We take a look at two examples, both related to slavery. One is the hero narrative and the other is the victim narrative. One is a historical narrative, the other is a current narrative. The historical narrative is taken from Barbra Freese´s conversation with Joe Rogan about slavery. You can listen to it here https://youtu.be/cP0D2_jhqPU .Then, we talk about an experiment that shows how quickly we can come up with narratives. And finally we ask if there is a way out. Is it possible for us to stop ourselves from creating these narratives, that may even be leading to abuse and destruction? In that discussion we note that since they are defence mechanisms they must involve a threat and we talk about how we can reduce the threat and increase our awareness. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions you can contact me on Instagram @BasiasThoughts.
