While Chelsea does not have a beard, she does have valuable insight as it relates to a topic we briefly discussed in Episode 1 of the podcast which is Absent/Unengaged fathers. Chris Dodd and I both revealed that we did not have solid father figures to help model parenting skills growing up. We relied on our mothers and, at least in my case, personal observations of other families. My father was completely absent and his father was present but largely disengaged.
We glossed over that in our discussion but I wanted to bring a professional perspective into the fold because I know that not having that positive male role model, at least for me, causes some apprehension around my effectiveness as a father and what I am modeling for my kids. So, I though it would be a good idea to drill down into that a little bit for those who might have the same apprehensions and want to understand it
bit more.
