Episode Synopsis

I have loved Whitney Houston since I was 15 years old. In fact, I saw her in concert right before I turned 16 in 1985. She was so beautiful and her voice was like nothing I have ever heard. She was my idol. Fast forward to circa 2002 when VH1's Divas Live was a big deal and Whitney was a part of their shows. I was offered a chance to go to Las Vegas to see her in concert but I didn't because my middle school-aged daughter was performing in her school's The Walk Through Time, a US History event that same weekend. Then ten years later when Whitney died, my daughter said something profound to me.
I had been sweating the small stuff because I wanted to be the best mother for my children. I didn't want to miss an event and did all that I could to be at everything. But what they really needed was to show me enjoying my life and sometimes choosing me over their activities.
Healing our root chakra, re-parenting ourselves, and showing, not just telling, our children how to live full lives are the takeaways I want you to have from this episode.
