You and I can look at Revelation and see that humanity had a need.  We were trapped in a sinful world that persecuted and killed those who believed in God and tried to live out their desire to honor and please their Creator.  So, they cried out to God to set us free and avenge their suffering. God had a plan from the beginning to save us from ourselves.  In His sovereign love for us, He devised a plan of action that required Him to become one of us in order to rescue us from our own sinful rebellion. Thus, Jesus would become the Lover of our soul to rescue us from our own destruction.  This would produce a love for Jesus in us that would carry us through to the perfection of God's image restored in us for all eternity.
