A separated inflator end cap or rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components propelling into the cabin, increasing the risk of injury or a crash. To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the left and right-side roof rail airbag modules for free. Chevy and GMC parent automaker GM will send interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk Aug. 16; owners will receive a second notice when a remedy is available.
