Episode Synopsis

This week we review the 1992 erotic thriller film Basic Instinct directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Joe Eszterhas.
Starring Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, George Dzundza, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Wayne Knight, the film follows the detective Nick Curran (Douglas) as he investigates the murder of a wealthy rock star in San Francisco.
He begins an intense relationship with Catherine Tramell (Stone), an enigmatic writer and the prime suspect.
Put the children to bed and plug in the headphones this is as raunchy as it gets.
We begin by discussing this current woke world, what words we can and cannot use and we ask why is it considered 'inappropriate' to imitate foreign accents? Considering we imitate each other all the time the Aussie and the Scotsman are in poll position to debate this one.
We discuss the chemistry between the characters. This is as close to porn as you can get - and it was 30 years ago.
We think this is a movie that still stands the test of time. An enjoyable movie and an even better podcast.
We discuss the controversy behind the infamous leg crossing scene and we deep dive into the plot.
We end the podcast talking about beauty - what is it and why do we expect more from women compared to men.
We might get ourselves into trouble in this one. But hey - what's new.
You don't have to have watched this movie to listen in.
