Today we begin the season of Advent, a time of waiting, watching, and preparing for Christ’s coming. Our theme for this season is “The Time Is Now.” In today’s Gospel from Matthew 25:1–13, Jesus tells the parable of the ten bridesmaids, some wise, some foolish, reminding us that faith is not passive waiting but active readiness. Advent invites us to keep our lamps burning, our hearts awake, and our lives open to the movement of God. As we worship today, may we hear the Spirit whisper again that God’s presence isn’t only in the future we hope for, but also in the moment before us — right here, right now.
