Today, we hear Jesus’ words from Luke’s Gospel—blessings and woes that turn our expectations upside down. In this teaching, known as the Sermon on the Plain, Jesus invites us to expand our horizons, to see the world through God’s perspective, where the poor are blessed, the hungry are filled, and the grieving find joy. As we gather in worship, may we open our hearts to this vision of God’s kingdom and be shaped by Christ’s call to love, justice, and mercy.
