Pop filters clean up the sound before you even edit it. They protect your mic from popping sounds, or rather, fast-moving air called plosives. Plosives are created from popping Ps when speaking close to your mic. Pop filters come in a variety of forms and are typically nylon or metal mesh screens that sit between you and the mic.
