Listen "My phone or my son - I must choose over and over and over! 10 minutes is 936 hours. S1 EP 20"
Episode Synopsis
TITLE: The phone or my son - I must pick ... over and over!
THE STORY:
Just last night he was playing Xbox and I was on many phone. I was not doing something productive. I looked up and realized I am giving up time with him .... for this. If I am not producing I am wasting time that could be spent with him and from now on I am not giving that up.
WHAT GOT ME REFLECTING: The Warrior Gratitude Stack
Every morning my mission is to start my day with power. One of the greatest ways I get centered is by giving thanks for that which I have. I do this with the gratitude stack. A series of powerful questions to amplify what I am thankful for. Today I did one for my son.
HIGHLIGHT FROM THE GRATITUDE STACK FOR MY SON:
I am just so damn proud of him. From helping set up the house with Christmas decorations to watching out for his baby sister. He is becoming everyday a great young man. DESIRES AND ACTIONS DEFINED WITHIN THE GRATITUDE STACK:
Fight for my time with Derek. Make the time we have count. Play games with him, uno, Xbox, baseball, fight with him in the bed, do the things that makes him happy.
LESSON LEARNED:
The greatest gift of seeing him in who he is becoming is a combination of the path he is on and the time we spend together. That path is on me as a father to build initially. The time we spend together must not be wasted.
REVELATION FROM THIS EXPERIENCE:
Life is fueled by what we do right! Our life’s fuel is taken by what we do wrong.
My life is fueled by expansion in the frames of life I choose to live within. From working my body to my spiritual world, from my family to my business.
My mission is to fight for greater clarity in those areas.
My fight is for the moments I have - do what fuels the fire, be a man showing up with earned faith for my family and everyday know that - today is a new day. What I bring to the table today is earned in the actions of today.
ACTION GOING FORWARD:
Do what fuels my purpose or spend quality time with my family.
MY QUESTION FOR YOU:
Where in your life in your body, your spiritual world, your family and or business - are you giving up quality time sedated on your phone?
This seems so irrelevant - yet the 2, 3 or 4 minutes wasted here and there over the years end up being a huge impact on the reflection of all we have done.
Imagine 10 minutes a day or about an hour a week being 52 hours in a year X 18 years.
936 hours or 39 days - would you give that up for surfing the web or some action that takes from the very person you are becoming.
I am questioning you because everyday I am questioning myself - am I doing enough of what matters? Answer the question and lets get better for who we are becoming and those we love.
