At 8600ft, Guffey is a small mountain town which had its beginnings in the late 1800’s with its booming population of 500 bringing cattle ranching and lumber operations supplementing Guffey’s mining activity.
Fast forward over one hundred years to today, just a few spread out ranchers occupy this area, or "share" this area with other creatures.
