Katie was awarded the title of Best Reporter in 2015 and also won in the Breaking News and Feature category. She said that the scheme was a rewarding and inspiring experience and would recommend it to anyone considering a career in journalism.
Having done the scheme two years running, she said in the second year she felt more confident to go ahead with her ideas for articles. She also said that the Young Reporter Scheme helped her a lot with what she is doing now, as it helped her with time management and honed her writing skills.
