In this first episode of the All Things Public Health Podcast, our guest, Rosanne Kahuure, talks about Namibia's efforts to addressing HIV/AIDS in honor of World AIDS day.Kahuure talks about the social challenges to addressing HIV/AIDS in the Namibian context.She also highlights Namibia's success stories, especially considering that it is one of the few African countries well on track to surpassing the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals to control the HIV epidemic.According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Namibia, in 2002, the country was close to surpassing the UNAIDS 95-95-95 HIV epidemic control goals.Namibia is estimated to be at 94-97-93.This means that 94 percent of people living with HIV in Namibia know their status, 97 percent of people who know their status are on antiretroviral treatment and 93 percent of people who are on HIV treatment are virally suppressed (meaning their viral load is not detectable).
