Listen "Big challenges and ambitious missions"
Episode Synopsis
In July 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to land on the moon. In May 2020, in response to Covid-19, the US Federal Government initiated Operation Warp Speed to accelerate the development and distribution of vaccines, cutting what would otherwise be a ten-year timeline to within 1 year. In 1989, the Montreal Protocol was established to phase out the production of substances responsible for ozone depletion. What’s common among these programs? Arindam Goswamy and Shreya Ramakrishnan discuss the compelling nature of ambitious programs to solve big social challenges, what sets mission-oriented policy projects apart, and takeaways for long-term policy change.
