Listen "Chew on This"
Episode Synopsis
There’s a lot of discussion around the threads of division in modern America today. And while the ability to connect with one another with smartphones and social media has never been easier, whether or not it allows for the kind of connection that builds well-being in communities is still up for debate. “Chew on This” offers a unique approach to community conversations – gathering strangers for dinner.
We talk to organizers from Indiana Humanities about what it’s like to bring people together from all across the state, to share a meal and share their thoughts on big questions around belonging, division and community. And we hear from an expert who studies the intersection of food and identity.
We also check in with the Chief Elf of Santa Claus, Indiana, who coordinates volunteers every year to respond to thousands of Christmas letters.
Produced by Maggie Gelon.
