Listen "Eating Jesus's Flesh(Sarx); The Sarx Part 26"
Episode Synopsis
Please view the video entitled “Keep My Commandments Summarized” before viewing this teaching: https://youtu.be/k7fUP105dLM?si=hnQbSUUg3t5JUYgVThe Flesh (Sarx): Eating Jesus's Flesh, Abiding in Him, and the Word of GodIn this continuation of the series on the Greek word **sarx** ("flesh"), the speaker examines the profound meaning of Jesus's words about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. The message, drawing on **John 6**, establishes a parallel between this action and the act of abiding in Christ through keeping His commandments. The video refutes the idea that our own flesh can give us life, arguing instead that it is a receptacle that is either filled with itself or with the Holy Spirit. The speaker also draws on Old Testament dietary laws and the concept of the Word becoming flesh to explain that when we ingest the Word of God, we are literally receiving the **sarx** (flesh) of Jesus Christ, which makes us capable of receiving more of the Holy Spirit.* The word "abides" is key to understanding Jesus's command to eat His flesh and drink His blood.* There is a direct parallel between eating Jesus's flesh and drinking His blood and abiding in Him by keeping His commandments.* The Word of God became flesh, so when we meditate on the Word, we are ingesting the **sarx** of Jesus.* The life of all flesh is in the blood, and drinking blood was forbidden in the Old Testament to make a point that our life does not come from blood.* God changed the dietary laws throughout the Old Testament covenants, and Jesus's command represents a final dietary law change in the New Covenant.* The more we put the Word into our lives, the more of Jesus's flesh we have in us and are more capable of receiving the Spirit. The video concludes by asserting that the Christian life is not about trying to be a better person through our own fleshly efforts, but about receiving God's Word, which changes our mind and our will, and is a process of being "delivered over to death" to our old self so that Christ's life can be manifested in our mortal flesh. The ultimate takeaway is that we were created weak on purpose so that we would choose to rely on the life of God in us rather than our own strength. It is only when we receive Jesus's new flesh and are filled with the Holy Spirit that we can truly live the life that He intended for us.#Sarx #TheFlesh #BiblicalTruth #DrMichaelDavis #Theology #John6 #NewCovenant #AbidingInChristSarx...
